With each new season the gardens are an explosion of colour and texture with borders planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. Whatever the weather, whatever the season there’s always something to delight to eye and engage the senses. There is something for everyone – horticulturalists will be inspired by the UK’s most northerly Botanic Gardens, families may explore many hidden corners, you can enjoy a stroll with friends or just sit in the peaceful surroundings. Our Café offers a wide variety of locally produced food and drink including soups, traybakes, coffees and more.

Unexpected greenery and glasshouses

The Botanic Gardens were an unexpected find as we were walking in the area. Tucked quietly behind the leisure centre and ice rink they were surprisingly good and a seemingly popular oasis of tranquility.
