Jupiter Artland

Bonnington House Steadings, Wilkieston, EH27 8BB, United Kingdom | 01506889900 | Website

Venue Description

Founded in 2009 Jupiter Artland is a unique, world-class private museum, 12 miles outside Edinburgh, housing the contemporary art collection of Robert & Nicky Wilson. A fantastical destination set across 100 acres of woodland and meadows filled with artworks by internationally renowned artists, innovative exhibitions of contemporary art and a pioneering centre of learning.

Accessibility

Jupiter Artland is a 100-acre site and it takes approximately 2 hours to walk around the entire collection. Our site is a natural woodland area, which can be uneven under foot. There are paths leading around the entire site, which are suitable for most outdoor wheelchair users. However as they are not tarmac paths they can be susceptible to extreme weather conditions. Due to the positioning of the artworks paths don’t necessarily go right up to each artwork but provide a view of each piece (with some exceptions). We aim to maintain paths and walkways; however, the weather can affect the quality of the ground underfoot. We suggest sensible footwear is worn in all conditions as some visitors may find some areas difficult to access. Please be aware that the road up to the Steadings area is cobbled with a gravel section, which isn’t suitable for some indoor wheelchairs. Cafe Party, the Steadings and Goldsworthy Galleries are fully wheelchair accessible via a ramp. It is possible to use alternative access in good weather conditions for indoor wheelchairs – please contact enquiries@jupiterartland.org for further information. Please be aware that we do not provide mobility scooters or motorised wheelchairs on site.
