Overview

Once we decided on a few days in Peebles, a visit to Kailzie Gardens was on the 'to do' list I doubt that either of us was disappointed.

Transport & Parking

3.5

We used our WAV, to get here, following the many road signs on the way. We arrived there shortly after visiting commenced to a very quiet car park. Disabled bays were clearly marked but we then encountered quite a steep slop (1 in 19) to entrance but it did have a non slip surface wide enough to allow for zigzag ascent or descent if necessary

Access

3.5

The walled garden has mainly lawned surface with some slight slopes between garden zones. Woodland areas parallel to the walled garden have accessible paths with some rougher terrain. These were many different garden zones in the walled garden separated by high hedges with orchard, vegetable garden intended for cafe use, Victorian glasshouses, currently being renovated, huge herbaceous borders with year round colour from mature shrubs and evergreens. Sculptures and water features. As a wheelchair user, I was glad I was with someone as I feel I would not have managed the gates on the trail. Other than the gates, we found the paths relatively flat and easy to get around on.

Toilets

Whilst I did not use this facility, My wife told me that small disabled loo inside the ladies facilities . I do not know if there was similar in the Gents.

Staff

The person who was saw on 'checking in' did not say much. Likewise with the staff in the cafe, which we visited after of garden experience.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The was hand sanitizing stations at various points. Other than than I did not see anything but that seems to be the way things are going these days. The leaflet we were given instructed us to look out for wildlife. Sadly we did not see any.
