    Killhope Lead Mining Museum

    About

Killhope, the North of England Lead Mining Museum is situated in Upper Weardale high up in the stunning North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With breathtaking scenery, wonderful wildlife including Red Squirrels, underground adventure and fascinating lead mining history there is so much to do and see. Killhope is 450 metres (1500feet) above sea level. We recommend that even in summer you come dressed for adventure and wear warm clothing and sensible footwear so that you can make the most of your visit.

We are very proud of our museum and make every effort to ensure all visitors get the most out of their visit. Although the site is not fully accessible to everyone we are able to provide a motorised scooter ramps to all areas of the main site and can provide a partial mine trip to those with mobility difficulties and who use wheelchairs
