Beautiful building, location and fabulous tour.
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Powerchair
Kingsbarns distillery is set on beautiful Fife coastal farmland with great views. The building conversion is very thoughtfully done with a lot of attention paid to accessibility. The only disappointment for us was the platform lifts, which we find difficult due to the size of my brother's powerchair. Aside from this access for us was excellent, with easy parking, wide doors, good sized accessible loos and incredibly helpful staff. The tour is excellent as is the spirit to taste at the end!
Transport & Parking
For us it was excellent as there were disabled parking spaces near the entrance. There is no public transport as far as I could tell.
Wide entrance doors (perhaps could be nice to be automated). Lowered reception counter was good. The only disappointment for us was that the main lift is platform style - and so pretty small and a bit of a faff to use, and there is a regular platform lift in the distilling section which again is tight for a powerchair user, and like all platform lifts for us, a bit tricky to use. If you dont mind using platform lifts that I think access for a wheelchair user would be good.
Good sized and clean. There was one on ground floor and one on the first floor, where they do tastings and events.
Very helpful and keen that the distillery to be accessible to as many people as possible.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The tour is excellent and involves tasting the spirit and a several Weymss malts too! Definitely worth a visit.
