The castle looks spectacular from the roadside but that was about as.close as I could get. It's difficult to write an access review of a place you haven't accessed but I thought I'd share what I could. As of 16th July 2026 the castle has reopened for visitors, though they state there is no disabled access, on the historic environmental Scotland site - but I expect this means mobility related impairments. You can only access the castle by boat.
Disabled Access In and Around
Poor
The jetty is rather steep, though there is rail partway down the ramp. Local pavements are in decent condition. No alternative formats are in use.
Parking & Transport
I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
There is some roadside parking, but no marked accessible parking spaces.
Accessible Toilets
The closest toilet is located at Castlebay Ferry Terminal.
