Excellent
Las Piedras is a lovely small hotel in the mountains of the Axarquia region in Andalucia, Spain. It's designed specifically to be accessible to people with disabilities. The five bedrooms all have step-free access, with wide doors, sufficient space for turning and ensuite wet rooms with extra space under sinks for wheelchair access. The terrace and restaurant also have step-free access, with excellent views. Mobility aids including hoists and profiling beds are available for hire, and care can be arranged in advance on request. The hotel also has an outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi, both with hoist. Excursions from the hotel are arranged to carefully planned accessible venues, and also transfers to and from Malaga airport using wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
There is step-free access to all the hotel's five bedrooms and the terrace and bar/restaurant. Doors are wide enough for easy wheelchair access. There is a slope up to four of the bedrooms, and a further slope up to the pool and jacuzzi (both with hoists).
Parking & Transport
Excellent
The hotel is in a rural mountainous region. The nearest airport is Malaga, and transfers are arranged using the hotel's wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Excursions to accessible venues in the area, using the hotel's wheelchair-accessible vehicles, are arranged on most days.
Accessible Toilets
Excellent
The toilets in the restaurant, and also the bedrooms' ensuite wet rooms, all have wide doors and set-free access. There are drop-down rails on either side of the toilets. They all have sufficient space for a carer to assist, and sinks at suitable height for wheelchair users.
Staff
Excellent
All staff were friendly and helpful, with excellent disability-awareness. Care can be arranged in advance by request - the carers provided to assist us were all very good indeed.
