Overview

We have been 6 times in the past 6 years and have our 7th trip booked, we go on holiday to lots of other places but can't help returning here as it is special. As another guest once said to us, this is such a relaxing holiday, because "I know from the minute they meet me at the airport, the only decisions I have to make is whether to have A or B for my evening meal and if I get that wrong it doesn't matter, as both options are equally good".

Transport & Parking

They collect you from Malaga airport in an accessible vehicle and take you on accessible trips each day apart from their change-over days Thursdays and Sundays. This is great if you for whatever reason hiring your own vehicle abroad is not an option.

Access

5

The 5 rooms, bar, lounge, pool and hot tub are all fully accessible without any part seeming "medical". The converted farmhouse is in the middle of nowhere, well away from the tourist trail. As such if you don't have your own transport it is not possible to leave the guesthouse other than on the organised trips or by arranging private trips. That said, it is all so good there is no reason to leave! LP aims to make the real Spain (history and culture) accessible to wheelchair users in a relaxed, supportive way. Breakfast 9 to 11 and trips 11 to 4 with evening meal at 7.30 pm - (think I have remembered that right.)

Toilets

5

2 large accessible loos in the main public area and accessible bathrooms in each of the 5 rooms. If all accessible loos were like this, life would be good.

Staff

5

Hannah and Adrian whose business it is are perfect hosts. Very, very knowledgeable, experienced, flexible and hardworking with a well adapted sense of humour in all matters disability related and otherwise. They have gathered around them a staff team who are equally special and just get the Las Piedras ethos for the benefit of all. It is like going to see friends rather than staying at a hotel.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The highlight of a Las Piedras (LP) holiday (I believe) is the evening meal, served for the most part on the outdoor balcony with the most fantastic views across the valley. The food, all cooked on the premises using local produce, is fab and is what you would expect from much more expensive establishments (special diets easily catered for). This, together with the excellent local Rioja that is sold at very reasonable prices, makes LP the perfect setting for a restful, re-charge your batteries holiday. Before our first visit we were very undecided about did we want to be with a group of moaning disabled folk. Over the years we have met at LP just wonderful people who we have shared such special experiences with.
