Lochcarron of Scotland is a working textile weaving mill producing tartans for customers around the world. Our mill tours begin at our shop and visitor centre, where you will learn about the history of Lochcarron and the rich textile heritage of the Scottish Borders.
During the tour, you will see every stage of our manufacturing process, including dyeing, warping, weaving, darning, and warehousing. You will also discover the fascinating story of tartans, from traditional clan designs to contemporary creations.
Our tour lasts about 45-50 minutes and is approx. 200 metres in length. As this is a working factory, some areas can be quite noisy. Complimentary ear plugs are available to all visitors to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable visit.
