Logan Botanic Garden

I really want to return. What wonderful gardens. We went on a hot, sunny day and the plants were at their best. Good disabled parking but then you have to tackle loose gravel to get to the gardens. Once in, the footpaths are reasonably good throughout. Just a couple where you simply turn back and use another route. There was a small café with both indoor and outdoor seating. The accessible toilet was tucked into a corner close by. A bit awkward for my small manual wheelchair to get in. A larger chair would struggle. Definitely not enough room to turn. Some smallish grab rails. Just adequate.

I was interested in the varying amount of stars given by previous reviewers. It seems to me the accessibility depends on which part you visit and the equipment used. A mobility scooter or powered wheelchair would allow access to more areas. I push my relative in a manual wheelchair. We first visited in September 2021 and were very dubious about returning this year as the gravel was so loose and thick there were times I had to tug the wheelchair by the front legs to get it moving. Some of the staff told us the gravel at that time was recently laid so we decided to try again, hoping the gravel was more compacted. It was, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

All the paths including the so called 'wheelchair and scooter route' is gravel and very steep. It would be easier to go up stairs in my Wheelchair than self propel, it was hard work for someone to push me though too. Very disappointing
