Central EV Charging
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair
Overview
Maxwell Street Car Park is one of the more central Electric Vehicle (EV) charging locations in Paisley, 160 metres from County Square, where you’ll find Paisley Gilmour Street Railway Station, the Piazza shopping centre and a handful of bars and cafes. It's not especially scenic as car parks go, but it is ideal if you need somewhere to charge your car and fancy a little distraction as you wait
Transport & Parking
This location has 8 EV spaces, served by 4 charging points. The spaces are all standard parking spaces with no cross-hatching on either side, meaning you could be prevented from entering or exiting your car, should another person pull in beside you. There are standard and accessible parking bays within the wider car park.
Access
Access to the charging units is poor, particularly due to the bollards in front of the units. This requires people to stretch over to use the installed charging cables, or to connect their own depending on the machine. The charging cables can be reached from a sitting height on each machine as can the contactless card readers.
Toilets
There are no toilets at this location.
Staff
This location is unstaffed.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
As with many EV charging points at the time of writing, the chargers are awkward to use if you live with a mobility impairment. Placing bollards in front of the charging units is obstructive. The spaces should be wider and in line with standard accessible parking spaces.
