Overview

Milliken Park is my local railway station, though I don’t tend to use it often. While there are trains to Glasgow from here, Johnstone Station has a better service, so I usually head there instead. If you’re local and don’t mind a bit of a wait, it’s a decent enough station with step-free access to both platforms.

Transport & Parking

3

There is no car park at this location. There is on-street parking in the local Corseford area but this is not part of the station. There is no dedicated drop-off point, though some people opt to stop at the lock-ups across the road from the ramp to platform 1 or on the road at platform 2. There are two local bus stops: Corseford Avenue, closest to platform 2, where the 5, 30, 38 Switch, 38A Switch, 307 and 307A operate, and on Milliken Park Road, downhill from the entrance to platform 1, where the 1, 307 and 904 services operate.

Access

To get to platform 2, you can either take the ramp, which has rails on both sides, or go down a few stairs. The steps have clearly marked edges, tactile markings at the top and bottom, and a rail. Both platforms have rain shelters and open seating. The platform edges are marked with yellow tactile paving. Platform 1 is accessed via a very long ramp with grab rails from the main road – probably the longest I've come across. There are also stairs to the left, with rails on both sides, clearly marked edges and tactile paving at the top and bottom. The ticket machine is on platform 1 only. It’s inside the large rain shelter, which has space for several wheelchair users if needed. Help points and passenger assistance waiting areas are clearly marked with overhead and low-level signage. If you need a ramp to board your train, there’ll be one on the train, but it’s best to book assistance if you can. For a nearby staffed station, try Johnstone. Hearing loops are installed on the platforms, but there are no further alternative formats in use.
