Monifieth Station is a small two platform station that does the job adequately. Access on either side for those using wheelchairs or pushing prams is on an incline. The ramp to platform 1 is quite steep, and the pavement leading to platform 2 has a noticeable incline as well. It’s ideally placed for anyone heading into town, visiting the local caravan park or taking a stroll or a roll along the waterfront.

The station has step free access to the platforms but there are some challenging sections, particularly for wheelchair users. The ramp to platform 1 has a slope, but there are no rails on either side. There are several level sections, but it was still a bit of a push for me. There are stairs with rails and clearly marked level changes. The approach to platform 2 is on a hill. The gradient is not too severe but it is noticeable. There is a bridge over both platforms with rails on either side and clearly marked top and bottom steps at each level. There are benches on both platforms and a rain shelter on platform 2. Overhead signage is clear, with departure information provided on LED screens. The platform edges are clearly marked. I did not see any indication that there is a hearing loop on either platform at the station. As mentioned, there is an underpass, but the pavement is narrow, though it should accommodate most power chairs. Heading up to platform 2, there's a hill on Union Street, then a hill up to the platform and the car park.

The most convenient way to get to the station is by train, but there is a car park and drop off point at platform 2. There are several parking spaces near the ramp leading to platform 1, though there are no marked accessible parking spaces. The nearest bus stop is 320 metres away on Maule Street where the 73, 73A, 73B, 73C, 74, 74A, 74B, 74C, 78C, 79A, 79C and 181 services operate.
