Good
Monument is an interesting station, as the entrance to it is located inside Eldon Square Shopping Centre. As with the other stops on the route, it is highly accessible and I was able to board without having to tell anyone in advance. Love it. This stop is pretty handy if you're out buying some gifts or want to arrive in the centre of the main shopping district.
Disabled Access In and Around
There are accessible ticket gates in the foyer, with lifts providing step-free access to all four platforms. The lift buttons have Braille panels and the controls inside also have Braille. The lifts are a decent size, with handrails and mirrors to help with reversing. There are also stairs and escalators to the platforms. The stairs have yellow markings on the edges, handrails on either side and several landings. The platforms have emergency help points and metal seats that fold down from the wall. Train information is shown on overhead dot matrix displays. There are yellow lines along the platform edge with tactile studs before them. The accessible carriage is towards the front of the train and is marked with a wheelchair symbol. The Metro trains have sliding steps to reduce the gap between the train and platform. I managed to get on with a little wheelie, although I appreciate that won't work for everyone!

The closest Multi-Storey on Percy Street. It has 497 spaces and 33 ;accessible parking space, and is connected to Eldon Square Shopping Centre. The closest bus stops to Monument Metro are the Newcastle Monument stops on Blackett Street, which are prety much right outside the station. Newcastle Central Station is half a mile away, downhill from the the Metro. Central also has it's own Metro, so you could hop on there to get to Monument.
