The Greatest Museum I've Ever Visited!
Te Papa really go the extra mile when it comes to all things accessibility. From sensory tours held out of hours for those with autism, to audio descriptive tours for the blind, to assisted guided tours for wheelchairs users - there's something for everyone and every detail has been painstakingly taken care of.
Almost everything within the museum is level access, with only the traditional Maori settlements and Marea's on the 4th floor being a little harder to negotiate. It's true, that these magnificent structures can be admired by all from the outside, but given their ancientness and sacredness, it would perhaps be a little unruly to suggest modifications.
All other aspects of the museum are plain sailing - however, and you're sure to find some of the worlds most fascinating displays at Te Papa, with one exhibition in particular; "Gallipoli: The Scale of our War" being absolutely mesmorising - bringing together the insane talent of Weta Workshop (renowned for their prosthetic's and CGI in the world of Hollywood) and the often untold truths of Gallipoli and presenting both in a unique and captivating manner.
It really is no wonder that Te Papa is the number one most visited tourist destination in New Zealand - in a country where tourist spots are two a penny!
