Here at the Museum of Oxford (MOX), we have undergone a significant redevelopment, restoring the Victorian grandeur of the building and reimagining how we tell this city’s fascinating tales. We have two new galleries which show the changing story of Oxford through its history and people. From football to fairgrounds, marmalade to Morris Motors, patron saints to pubs, barges, bones, and all types of quirky customs—there’s something for everyone. A new space, called Museum Makers, encourages school children and communities to engage with our learning programme in a fun, informal space. Through collection items, video, audio, and interactive displays, the exhibitions uncover what makes Oxford such a special place to live, work and study. It’s a great place for locals to explore their community stories and for visitors to discover our amazing city. Beyond the building, we host community-curated exhibitions, a variety of events ranging from live music to comedy, family activities and fun throughout the year and an accessible and extensive community programme. There are also lots of ways to get involved with the Museum through volunteering. Opening hours: Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, free entry.
