Museum of the Jewellery Quarter

Very interesting visit to a workshop that has been preserved as a time capsule exactly as it was on its last day of opening in 1981. I understand that it has recently re-opened after some repair work to the roof. I think it is access by guided tour only and parts of the building are a little cramped. The tour guide was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The tour lasted 45 minutes. I use a rollator and was able to complete the tour comfortably. There is a lift and plenty of stools dotted around.

A fantastic museum to visit to learn about a art that is not well known about. Before you go you need to book a tour if you want to see the true story of the place where the museum is based and what a story. To do this you ring or book online visit http://www.birminghammuseums.org.uk/jewellery on this site on found the access statement and with me been in a wheelchair its a must for me to know if I can have a comfortable visit and this one was brilliant with great picture and details. There was only one place I could get in my Jazzy power chair that was Mr Tom's office. Tour & demonstrator guide Rupert was beyond brilliant.
