Overall Rating
Good
This museum is quite interesting, It's accessible to most users but wheelchair users will find some areas inaccessible. There are lifts available to most floors but some of the lower 'dungeon' areas are inaccessible. It cost me £15 to get in and I was in there for 2 hours. I found the layout confusing even though I had a floorplan. Actually getting into the building is unsatisfactory (at least it was when I was there) as there is a rear entrance with an intercom, but the intercom doesn't appear to be linked to museum reception.
Disabled Access In and Around
There are lifts to all but the dungeon levels. Access to the actual building is step free if you can get someone to respond to the intercom!
Accessible facilities: Lift to some areas, Seating at regular intervals, Step-free entrance
Parking & Transport
I travelled to this place by walk or wheel
I walked there using my rollator as it was quite near to my hotel.
Accessible Toilets
Toilets easily accessible and very clean
Facilities: Accessible toilet
Staff
Excellent
One of the character guides was extremely helpful. showed me where all the lifts were and even allowed me to use the staff lift on one occasion. I found the layout of the building very confusing and he was invaluable in helping me find my way around.
Additional Information
This museum is not bad value for money but wheelchair users will find some areas inaccessible. I use a folding rollator and I found getting into some areas a tight squeeze.
