    Not too bad

Not too bad. There is lots of regeneration work going on so half the museum was closed. Sadly not many trains open to actually view though (I'm sure there was more open the last time we visited). Tickets free of course and we were allowed entry before our booking. There are a few steps sadly and to get close to many of the trains involves steps. Limited seating to take a rest. The worst thing currently is the car park. It's quite a walk and the disabled bays aren't the closest, Car parking is free though but we donated the normal charge instead of paying parking. Worth going though if you are a train fan.

    Family Visit

Very accessible and helpful staff. Only marked it down one star due to construction works going on and the disabled parking being 150+mtrs away from the entrance. It would be possible to drop someone off closer to the door and move the car though I think. Not able to get up on the ramps to look in the carriages (as they are accessed by steps) but realistically what would you see anyway - some seats and tables. Museum is free to visit, donations optional. Disabled toilets and quiet space if needed. Staff easily approachable.

    Could have been better

Written on behalf of a Family with my 70 year old disabled father: Arrived to find fantastic disabled parking spaces, no charge to park and very close to entrance. Didn’t bring our own wheelchair as were told there were both wheelchairs and scooters available. We entered and were told we still had to queue despite booking a slot. We weren’t allowed to take wheelchair to car so my dad had to stand and wait. When we got to the register point and asked for a wheelchair the assistant was very unsure as to how to unfold the wheelchair. The wheelchairs are one size fits all and unfortunately my dad found the fixed foot plates to be completely at the wrong angle and really struggled through the whole visit. There was no sign of the advertised scooters. It was very, very busy (half term) which meant that it was really hard to manoeuvre in the crowds. We left deciding we wouldn’t return.
