The North Pier tram stops are split up depending on which direction you are travelling. This tram stop is for the southbound trams towards Starr Gate, taking you all the way along the Promenade past the majority of big Blackpool attractions, including Blackpool Tower, Sea World, Madame Tussaud’s, Coral Island, Sandcastle Waterpark, Pleasure Beach as well as Central and South Pier. What about North Pier? You are already there! It is just across the tracks and 150 metres to the left. This tram stop has the opposite problem of many of the stops further on – pedestrian crossings at either side of the platform to the other side of the road (yay!) but no tactile markings and quite steep crossings over the tracks to the seafront promenade (boo!).

The platform is between the tram tracks and the road. It is slightly elevated, so there are inclines up on either side. There are tactile markings at the bottom of them and the edge of the platform. There is a large shelter with benches and timetables. The benches do not have a backrest or armrests. The shelter has glass walls along both sides. The platform has two wheelchair symbols on the ground that line up with the wider doors on the trams. The doors of the trams are approximately at the same level as the platforms, so there are no ramps needed. I always managed to get onto the tram in my powerchair, but I did find that it was a little bit higher than the platform and I struggled when it was raining and everything was slippery. The easiest way to access the platform is from the other side of the road, as there are wide zebra crossings with tactile markings and lowered curbs on either end of the platform. There are no tactile markings for crossing the tracks to the seafront promenade and while the curbs are flat, there is quite a steep incline up from the promenade to the level of the tracks.

The West Street bus stop (2, 21) is alongside or right across the road from the platform, depending on which direction you are going. There are several more bus stops along Market Street (11, 11A, 11B, 68, 68C), which runs parallel to the Promenade. There is a little bit of on-street parking along Market Street as well as a multi-storey car park accessed from West Street. Blackpool North train station is a 0.5-mile/11-minute walk or wheel away, but if you want to take the tram there, you will need to go to the Talbot Square tram stop around the corner.

Good
I have found the tram staff to be friendly and helpful. Sometimes there will be staff at the tram stops, but more commonly there will be two conductors on the tram who can assist you with boarding and buying your tickets.
