Venue Description

Located in vibrant North London, O2 Academy Islington hosts live music and club nights from established acts looking for an intimate performance atmosphere and new and emerging artists cutting their teeth in the capital. Opening on 19 September 2003 with an immense show from US rockers Alkaline Trio, an impressive list of acts followed in their footsteps onto the stage with Muse, The Cure, Eminem, Beck, KISS, Biffy Clyro and The Script all playing at the venue. AMG developed the 250 capacity O2 Academy2 Islington at the end of 2003, the adjoining smaller space to the main O2 Academy Islington.

Accessibility

The O2 Academy1 accessible area is created on a show-by-show basis - either facing the right side of the stage or in the mezzanine area. Both can be accessed via lift or stairs and can accommodate 2 wheelchairs and 7 seats. The O2 Academy2 area is created on a show-by-show basis, subject to customers' requirements. The bars do not have lowered counters, however, Security Staff will be on duty to assist. The merch stand for the main room can be accessed by the N1 Centre lift. Security should be informed and will be happy to assist. The merch stall for O2 Academy2 is accessible when used.

Awards List

The venue is signed up to Attitude Is Everything's Charter of Best Practice in 2006 and hold a silver certificate. More recently, the venue has become a CredAble Provider and supports the Access Card http://credability.uk.com/access-card/

Toilets

There are 2 accessible toilets, neither requires a RADAR key. One is located on the mezzanine level and the other in the foyer area alongside other toilets in O2 Academy Islington. O2 Academy2 Islington has toilets in the auditorium and an accessible toilet just outside the room in the foyer area, that doesn’t require a RADAR key.

Staff have attended Disability Awareness training and are happy to assist as and when required and will always strive to ensure patrons have an enjoyable and stress free experience when visiting.
