One ren staff friendly and accommodating, wheelchair users can be accommodated in the ground floor stalls and first floor balcony, 2nd floor gallery has no lift access therefore not accessible, 1200 seating capacity in main hall, venue can also host smaller events in other areas. 4 disabled toilets and a changing place are available to use for the general public but please call ahead on 07811056855, to contact duty manager

In late April I had the pleasure of attending Paisley Town Hall for the Loud Poet’s Poetry Slam as part of the Paisley Book Festival, not as a punter but as a performer. I was up against 10 other poets, competing for a cash prize and an opportunity to secure a place in the final, where the big money is! I didn’t win the prize in the end, but the venue won my favour. Built in 1882, the venue has stood the test of time. A recent refurbishment, costing an eye-watering £22 million, has seen this bonnie building become beautiful inside and out. A core focus of the refit appears to be accessibility. The building is accessed by a ramp on either side of the entrance stairway, the town hall boasts 4 accessible toilets, one of which is a changing places toilet, complete with hoist, height adjustable sink and shower. The stage is also accessible via a folding ramp, easily ascended in my manual chair - though I did clip the edges with my push rims once or twice. Paisley Town Hall has held host to many events from beer festivals to weddings, live music, comedy, poetry and everything else in between. The staff are all pleasant and eager to ensure that disabled visitors know their way around the venue and have any support they may require.
