Open throughout the year, the Palace of Holyroodhouse stands at the end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile against the spectacular backdrop of Arthur’s Seat. During your visit, discover the Palace’s close associations with some of Scotland’s most well-known historic figures such as Mary, Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie, and find out how the Palace is still used by His Majesty the King when carrying out official engagements in Scotland. Accessibility

The Palace of Holyroodhouse is largely accessible, with some restrictions in Mary, Queen of Scots' rooms. Concessionary rates are available for you if you have a disability and a companion is admitted free of charge. . There is limited bench seating and registered assistance dogs are welcome. Awards List

The Palace of Holyroodhouse has achieved Breastfeeding Friendly accreditation from Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland.

Toilets

Accessible toilets are located in the Café at the Palace, which can be visited without a ticket. The nearest Changing Places toilet facility is located at the Scottish Parliament. The Scottish Parliament is open Monday, Friday and Saturday (including public holidays) – 10am to 5pm (last entry 4.30pm). Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday –9am to 6.30pm (last entry 6pm).

Staff

A number of the warden team have had Autism Awareness and Hidden Disability awareness training and are also Dementia Friends. Tailored visits or special requests from visitors with disabilities can be advised on a case by case basis by the dedicated Community and Access coordinator at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
