Paradise Green run two venues at the heart and soul of the largest theatre festival in the world. We are a not-for-profit organisation, run almost entirely by volunteers which aims to give opportunities for people to take part in all aspects of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, including venue staff, performers and audiences. Paradise in the Vault has been running since 2007 and consists of two purpose-built theatre spaces which provide the perfect setting for imaginative and original works. Beautiful, atmospheric and intimate, The Vault has become popular with performers and audiences alike. Situated in the lowest level of Augustine United Church, features of the vaulted basements have been incorporated into the design to create truly unique theatre spaces. The permanent nature of the conversion means that the facilities and comfort are of a standard not usually found in a Fringe venue.
The venue is located at the end of Merchant Street, a cobbled street with pavements covering most of the distance from Candlemaker Row. Paradise in the Vault consists of two spaces - The Vault and The Annexe. Unfortunately The Annexe is not accessible to visitors in a wheelchair and is accessed via approximately 5 - 10 steps. The Vault is accessible via 3 - 4 steps or alternatively a lift facility.
Each show can choose whether to offer accessible performances, with a number offering relaxed performances this year.
The toilets are located in the raised part of the foyer, accessible via 3 - 4 steps or a lift facility. There are three toilets, one of which is accessible with wide door, sinks and dryers at appropriate heights and grab rails.
The venue staff are friendly and enthusiastic volunteers with a passion for theatre and for helping audiences to enjoy their experience at our venue.
