Overview

Park House, on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, is a hotel specifically designed to cater for people with disabilities and their companions. Run by Leonard Cheshire Disability, and offering care from their excellent staff, it was a wonderful place for a holiday or short break for disabled people and their carers. UPDATE: Please note that in November 2020, Leonard Cheshire announced that they would be discontinuing their work at Park House, and it is now closed.

Transport & Parking

4

Park House is situated on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, a rural location. The nearest railway station, King's Lynn, is approximately eight miles away, so guests are likely to need their own transport. There is plenty of parking available in the hotel grounds. The hotel does advertise a local taxi firm which runs fully accessible taxis, which provides a good service which can be booked by hotel guests.

Access

5

Access is excellent throughout, as one would expect of a hotel for people with disabilities. Although the hotel is set in a Victorian house, it has been well adapted. There are eight single and eight twin-bedded rooms, all of which have step-free access, as do all the public rooms. A number of the bedrooms have ceiling hoists, and mobile hoists are also available, operated by the hotel's care staff. Most of the bedrooms have en-suite wet rooms and electric profiling beds. Other equipment such as shower chairs and commodes are available for use. The extensive gardens have good paths throughout.

Toilets

5

Each of the hotel bedrooms has an en-suite toilet and bathroom or wet room. These vary in size and design, but all have drop-down rails beside the toilet. There are also accessible toilets located in the public areas of the hotel.

Staff

5

It's hard to speak too highly of the hotel staff, all of whom were very attentive and alert to the specific needs of people with disabilities. On booking, it's possible to opt for a personal assistance care package. A variety of these are available, offering different levels of care according to guests' needs.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Park House Hotel is an excellent and relaxing place for a holiday for people with disabilities and their companions, in the midst of the beautiful Norfolk countryside. Highly recommended. We're just looking forward to being able to go again!
