About

Based in London’s Bedford Square, the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art is an educational charity and research institute that supports new ways of understanding British art history and culture. We run a thriving programme of events both in person and online. These events are geared to scholars, students and all those with a general interest in British art. We also have our Public Study Room where you can explore our rich library and archival holdings.

Disabled Access Information Provided by Paul Mellon Centre

Disabled Access at Paul Mellon Centre

We have five steps to our entrance however we can provide a ramp if required, which would make it step-free. Once inside the building, our ground floor is level including to our accessible toilet, Display Room and Seminar Room. Our Public Study Room is down some stairs but, with prior arrangement, we can bring LIbrary and Archive materials to you at a designated desk on the ground floor. Unfortunately, our Lecture Room is on the first floor (we have no lift) but, with prior notice, some of our lectures can be scheduled in our ground floor Seminar Room, or we could arrange for the live streaming of an event to be shown in one of our ground floor spaces for you.

A wheelchair-accessible viewing area with step-free access is available, providing an optimal vantage point to view performances, presentations or activities.

We are a short walk/drive from Tottenham Court Road tube station which has step-free access.

Underground station

There is an accessible underground station nearby with suitable facilities and assistance available for disabled passengers.
