The outside area is gravel. This was a pain for my scooter - whole lot of wheelspinning. A scooter/wheelchair with fatter wheels than mine might've coped ok. As it was I had to rely on people shoving/dragging me around. The venue provided a fairly sturdy moveable ramp into the building. Then there was a (fairly steep) permanent ramp down to the ceremony/reception area. The post=ceremony 'hanging about' period was spent back outside in a grassed area with a few picnic tables/benches. This was separated from the gravelled area by a couple of heavy planks. I had to get someone to move these so that I could drive into the grassed area. This area also led on to the wood-floored terrace area at the side of the building (more seating here). This could be bumped up to from the grass as long as you found a spot that wasn't too overgrown and didn't have any big holes in the lawn for your wheels to get stuck in. The accessible loo is at the end of the terrace (see below). The main room was set up for the meal and the subsequent party with plenty of room for someone on wheels to manoeuvre, and access to the bar. When it was time to leave the venue, people opened the French windows which were at dance floor level, and I got back out to the gravelled area with barely a bump.

The accessible loo is at the end of the terrace outside, rather than being easily accessible from the main area. It has plenty of room and grab bars to assist. Unfortunately there is no holder so the loo roll sits on the side of the sink - so you can reach it but it ends up soggy. Sink is at an appropriate height. Unfortunately that loo is not easily accessible from the main area - you'd have to go outside, down the ramp, across the gravel, negotiate the planks and bump up to the terrace. There are two loos inside at entry level (up the ramp from the gravel. One is a single cubicle, quite tight - I'm not sure that a wheelchair would fit. The other has a bulky baby changing unit straight ahead as you enter. There are then two cubicles. I couldn't get in to either on my scooter and close the door, so I had to pull the scooter in front of me and pee with the cubicle door open - hey you're all friends at a wedding! There was very little to hold on to inside the cubicle, so that added another frisson of excitement/terror to the experience

Very nice - happy to help when asked, but not sure they'd ever really thought about accessibility. I had emailed in advance and they had responded sounding very proud of the 'accessible' toilet on the terrace - however, as explained, the loo itself is ok, it's actually getting to it that poses a challenge!
