Bad
The good: the staff were great, helpful and friendly - the room was clean - the bed was very comfortable Breakfast was at the Beefeater next door (as with most Premier Inns). It's an old building with many of the breakfast tables up a step. The buffet was set too high to reach from a wheelchair, as was just about everything else, although staff offered to help.
Disabled Access In and Around
Average
Access to the building is via a manual door, not automatic. There are 2 levels with a small lift to the 2nd floor There is a room door spy hole at wheelchair height There is just about enough room to get a 16ins manual chair around the bed to transfer onto the bed. There is an emergency pull cord next to the bed (untested) The Beefeater restaurant has a ramp to the door but involves crossing the car park.
Parking & Transport
Poor
There is a car park outside the hotel building with 3 Blue Badge spaces, although 2 of these were taken by lorries of men doing work on the building. There is a car parking area next to the Beefeater, just a short roll to the hotel with 2 further Blue Badge spaces.
Accessible Toilets
0The bathroom was very small, there was only just enough room for my 16ins manual chair to get in and no room at all to turn round. The toilet is low There is no space either side for a side transfer. There is a single fixed wall mounted hand rail There is a red cord tucked almost against the wall (on the side of the rail) that was tightly knotted around the rail. The sink is inaccessible from a wheelchair due to the lack of room and 'box' beneath the sink There is an ordinary bath - deep and narrow with a wall mounted shower attachment at standing height.
Staff
Good
All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. All but one of the restaurant staff were pleasant and helpful.
Additional Information
Having stayed in many Premier Inns all around the UK, this was by far the least accessible. I wouldn't recommend it to wheelchair users and wouldn't stay again.
