Our second stay at this Premier Inn. Located just off the Royal Mile so close to many Edinburgh attractions. Very close to Waverley train station. Unfortunately for our second stay, the Premier Plus accessible hotel room we’d booked was unavailable due to a maintenance issue. We were given a standard accessible room with wet room and reimbursed with the difference in price plus extra monies for inconvenience. The room was acceptable though there was a smell of damp carpet as you entered. We didn’t explore whether there was a third alternative. Breakfast time was busy but the food good with the usual Premier Inn offering. Differences between this stay and the previous year was there seemed to be less staff on duty during the day and you had to ask for your room to be cleaned in the day whereas last year your room was cleaned each day unless you asked not to. One of the three lifts did breakdown on our last evening but an engineer was in attendance the next morning as we were leaving.

There are three lifts in the hotel for customer use. Downstairs foyer is spacious. The breakfast restaurant area has enough room to manoeuvre around in a wheelchair but can get busy in the mornings.

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
There is no hotel parking but there is public parking in the street outside the hotel which is free to Blue Badge holders for a period of time, which allows for loading. We have used the OMNi Centre secure multi-day, overnight parking when we have stayed in Edinburgh. This is a 12 minute walk from the hotel.

There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor behind the bar/restaurant area. The toilet was clean with grab rails. Room enough for me, my wheelchair and carer to manoeuvre in.

Staff
Average
There was one duty manager who was very helpful and others were friendly. However, there did seem to be ‘an air’ of some staffing issues in the background.
Additional Information
This hotel is centrally located and close to many Edinburgh attractions. We were there for the Fringe Festival and this was a central point from which to reach the venues for shows. This said, as a wheelchair user who relies on my carer to push me, you have to recognise Edinburgh centre is hilly in places and choose your routes carefully (taking longer routes to find gentler gradients).
