Overview

This Premier Inn is a well-located budget hotel. Situated just across the street from Euston, central London sights are a mile in one direction, with Camden a mile in the other. It’s an ideal home base, and one I’d gladly return to. Please note, this review is for a standard room.

Transport & Parking

3

There is no on-site parking available, though chargeable off-site parking can be found nearby at the NCP car parks at King’s Cross, St Pancras, Clare Court and Judd Street. Accessible taxis are available at the nearby Euston Train Station, which serves as both a railway and underground station. There is no shortage of bus stops and routes across the city. Buses in the centre are accessible, with a lowered ramp deployed by the driver. Though not an official drop-off point, there is space for a car to pull in and drop someone off at the entrance.

Access

3

There are automatic sliding doors at the entrance, with a card reader on the right for those who require access later in the day. As you enter, there are two check-in desks: one to the left and the other to the right. At the desk on the right, there are three self-check-in terminals (which were out of order). Following the room through to the left, you’ll come to the lift corridor. This carpeted area has two lifts, and the restaurant is nearby. The lift is small, just about able to accommodate a powerchair user and a second person. The buttons have braille markings, and a hearing loop is available. Grab rails are also installed here. On leaving the lift, I encountered a heavy door on my way to my hotel room, which proved to be a struggle. The door to my room opened inward and required a fair bit of faffing about with tapping my card and manoeuvring my wheelchair to get into the room, but I managed. I didn’t book an accessible room, but it’s worth noting that the layout meant I couldn’t get to the other side of the bed. If you need the space to move around, an accessible room is best. The door to the toilet also opens inward, but is much lighter than the door into the room – thankfully. There is plenty of room to move in the restaurant, with wooden tables, and I was able to get my knees under when using my wheelchair. There’s also a Costa attached to the restaurant. The floor is elevated slightly, but the permanent ramp makes it easy to get to where you need to go.

Toilets

2

The room didn’t have an accessible toilet, but there is one available in the lobby. The door to the accessible toilet opens inwards and doesn’t require a RADAR key. The toilet is small, though it could accommodate a powerchair and an additional person if needed. There is space for a left-side transfer to the toilet, but the large sanitary bin in this space renders it unusable. The toilet seat has silver grab rails on either side, which contrast well against the black tiles at the back of the room and the cream tiles on the right. The red cord is on the left when seated and hangs freely at the correct length. The small sink has a lever-style tap and matching silver grab rails on either side. The hand dryer is to the right of the sink, as is the wall-mounted baby change table.

Staff

The staff were very helpful, which was a great as I had a personal emergency.
