Amazing and brilliant!
I've been going to the ReConnect programme at Project Ability's studios for 12 years. In that time I've gone from walking without too much difficulty, to mostly using crutches, to being a wheelchair user.
The building itself and the studios are very accessible. A choice of two lifts, doors the right width for wheelchairs to easily fit through (and not too heavy!), open areas with masses of turning room, and in the studios (on the 3rd floor) there is a massive accessible toilet with a shower, changing bed and mobile hoist. There are also other smaller accessible toilets throughout the building, including on the 1st floor, which is where Project Ability's office, shop and gallery space are located - all wheelchair accessible.
Project Ability's studios cater for children with various disabilities, as well as adults with learning disabilities and those with lived experience of mental health conditions. All the staff and artists are friendly, welcoming and lovely people. It's a genuinely wonderful place to be, and I love being a part of their community.
