About

Ribble Steam Railway and Museum is an active Heritage Railway, running our Steam Engines every weekend. With a museum, workshop, passenger train, miniature rail, and a children's playground it's a great day out for the family and train enthusiasts. As a volunteer-run organization, you will find a friendly and welcoming environment with our knowledgeable volunteers on hand to answer any questions and share their knowledge. For full opening times please check our website. Open every Sunday from 10:30 until 17:00 and selected weekends until the end of June, open weekends from July until September.

Accessible

For a working heritage railway, this is one of the best we have been to. You can get around the museum which is an engine shed. The train is accessible.

Disabled Access at Ribble Steam Railway and Museum

Our whole site has disabled access, with free disabled visitor parking right by our main entrance. All doors are wide enough to fit each type of wheelchair. For our younger visitors, we have a disabled access roundabout in our new playground. In our museum, there are ramps up to the platform and to our exploration room on the second level. There are ramps to the disabled access part of our Steam Train and our workshop is all one level, with doors wide enough to fit any wheelchair through.

We have 6 disabled parking bays for our visitors, the parking is free.

We have a disabled access toilet which has several grab rails, easy turn taps and is ground level /step-free.

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
