    Inccessible path fails green space

Riverside Park is a fairly new feature in the Govan area of Glasgow. The main park area is pleasant with concrete pathways and a good variety of seating options, an ideal place for a picnic in the summer. Where things start to fall apart is in accessing the park. The entrance is via a whin dust path. I understand it is meant to compact, but it simply makes things more challenging for wheelchair users - so much so that a wheelchair user found themselves stuck recently. I found it difficult even with a power attachment, so heavier chairs or manual chairs wouldn’t stand a chance.

Govan’s new park struggles with accessibility

This is a new park that has just opened in Govan, Unfortunately its not too disabled friendly. The main path is a type of sand which isn't great for scooter wheels, nearly got bogged down a few times, especially when leaving. Not sure how good it would be for a wheelchair user. There is a concrete path round a sunken area that has seating. Though it is a foot down to another sandy area, there is a small ramp made of sand, looks like an afterthought tbh. There is a third sandy area/path as well. There's is a cobbled area but that is to be expect due to the origianl purpose of the graving docks. The old pumphouse is there and can be viewed in one section and you can go into one area which is flat and photogenic. It does offer the opportunity of different views the sights round the clyde, like the Riverside Museum and Science Centre.
