I love browsing and shopping in Robert Dyas and this branch in East Sheen is reasonably easy to get around for wheelchair users, except at the tills.

Disabled Access In and Around

The entrance to the shop is step free and it's possible for a wheelchair user to get around the entire shop with reasonable comfort and a few tight squeezes. Everything is on the ground floor. The big problem was at the tills. I was not able to get to the tills in the ordinary way that walking people queue for them. There were boxes and a display stand making a very narrow gap which I was not able to pass through. This is thoughtless and must be fixed.

Parking & Transport

There are plenty of bus routes in the vicinity, but no step-free trains stations.

This is not the sort of shop where I would expect to find a toilet.

Staff

The staff I met were friendly and helpful, BUT they thought the obstructions by the tills, mentioned above, were trivial and even amusing. They did not try to remove the obstructions, and they certainly didn't take them seriously. This is a very bad mark against the Robert Dyas chain.

Additional Information

Someone in Robert Dyas needs to have a word with the staff at this branch and remind them that they must make ALL parts of the shop accessible to wheelchair users, and that they must take this issue seriously.
