Overall Rating
Good
This is a bronze statue depicting Robin Hood which sits just outside Nottingham Castle. It’s not inside the castle so it’s completely open to the public. As well as the central statue of Robin Hood, there are some other statues with some of the “Merry Men” and then some images showing Robin Hood and his gang doing some things you might have heard from the stories. The area around the statue is quite hilly so some of the roads and paths to the statue are quite steep. There are some stairs with railings up to the statue but there are step-free routes to it as well. The area around the statue itself is very flat and level.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
Some of the roads and paths up to the statue have quite a severe gradient to them as the statue is high on a hill. Some of the paths are actually staircases with grab rails but there are also step-free paths via the pavements around the edge. The area around the statue itself is flagstones which are a little bumpy at times but were good for the most part. There are some grassy areas there too where you could sit but there aren’t any other benches or anything to sit on.
Accessible facilities: Single-level venue
Parking & Transport
Good
I travelled to this place by walk or wheel
There is a small, paid car park just down the road from the statue. There are also two, large NCP car parks nearby as well. The statue is 500 metres away from the Old Market Square tram stop and 700 metres away from the railway station and connecting tram stop. There is a bus stop just down the road, around 170 metres away, where a number of different buses stop.
Accessible facilities: Dedicated on-site parking, Public or on street parking
