Our quartet of seafront self catering cottages have uninterrupted views of the shoreline of Ross Bay with its birdlife and wildflowers, the sounds of silence and the tides rolling in and out over the salt marshes each day…. look across to Skiddaw in the Lake District, and enjoy the beautiful Solway. Situated on a working farm with cattle, sheep, ponies, pigeons, geese and lots of wildlife. The sea is only a stones throw from the cottages! Location, location, location……when you want to get away from it all!

Disabled Access Information Provided by Ross Bay Retreat

Disabled Access at Ross Bay Retreat

At Ross Bay we try to enable everyone to be able to enjoy a holiday here with us. Our cottages are all different so here are a few helpful notes, but please feel free to call us to discuss anything more personal to yourself or your needs. Byre by the Sea – a single storey dwelling, with all living on one floor with ramped access from the car parking area (which is large enough for a vehicle with a tail lift to park). Large open plan kitchen / living / dining area. Large master bedroom. Wide doors and corridor. The en-suite bathroom, has an enclosed shower which is 1200cm x 800cm, along with a toilet and washbasin. The family bathroom has a smaller quadrant shower which is 900cm, there is a toilet, washbasin and a separate bath. The Old Cheeseloft – although a 2 storey house, it has 2 living rooms downstairs, one of which could accommodate a bed (we would bring a single bed down from upstairs), and the downstairs shower room has an 1800cm x 800cm low level tray. The doors are wide, and access is off a flagged parking area. The parking area is large enough and long enough to park a vehicle with a tail lift easily with flagged path and ramp into the cottage. There is wheelchair access onto the largest enclosed side balcony. Creel Cottage – single story cottage but at present has an over bath shower (plans to make this into a walk in shower). The doorways are 29” wide. The master bedroom would have limited space for a wheelchair. There is a flagged path from the parking area at the side of the house, and plenty of space / length for a vehicle with a tail lift.
