About

Ham Wall is a wetland teeming with wildlife – from rare species like Water Voles and Otters to ‘booming’ Bitterns and colourful Kingfishers. Enjoy sweeping views across the marshes to Glastonbury Tor and make some time to follow secluded paths through the mystical landscape. The reserve has more than 3 miles (5 km) of trails. The main track is a wide and raised hard standing surface with vehicular access to two designated blue badge holder parking bays, providing easy access to Viewing Platform 1, three viewing screens and the Tor View Hide via wheelchair-accessible boardwalks. The main track has multi user access and is used by pedestrians, cyclists and also has limited motor vehicle use. Events can be found here: https://events.rspb.org.uk/hamwall A small Info Point providing information is open most weekdays and every weekend from 10 am – 4 pm. A small Catering Kiosk selling a limited selection of hot and cold drinks, pre-packaged snacks (flapjacks, cookies and crisps) and ice creams, is open weekends from 10am to 4pm. Hours vary during the week based on volunteer availability.

Hardstanding plastic boardwalk. • Walton Heath Trail - 1.1 mile/ 1900m. Uneven grass path that can be muddy or flooded in places after heavy rain. Gate into Waltons from Main Track can be unlocked with a RADAR key. • Loxton Heath Trail - 0.8 mile/ 1300m. Uneven grass path. Often flooded in places after heavy rain. Viewing Points • Viewing Platform 1 and 2 accessed from hardstanding track of Ham Wall Loop • Tor View Hide accessed from hard standing paths. Wheelchair spaces available. • Avalon Hide access from uneven grass paths that can become muddy and flooded after heavy rain. Stairs to access upstairs viewing area. Accessible parking at RSPB Ham Wall

The car park has 120 spaces of which 5 are Blue Badge spaces. 2 additional Blue Badge spaces are available within the reserve, close to viewing platforms and viewing facilities. These are accessed with a RADAR key. RADAR keys can be borrowed from the Info Point. Parking is free for Blue Badge Holders and RSPB Members. Otherwise parking fees apply.

Toilets features at RSPB Ham Wall

There is one unisex accessible toilet located in the toilet block in the car park. The accessible toilet is reached via a wooden ramp and has one toilet with sanitary waste bin, one wall sink, baby changing facilities and a hand dryer. The door is locked from the inside via a lift handle mechanism. A pull-down support rail is available next to the toilet. An emergency cord is also located next to the toilet and when pulled activates an alarm and flashing light which is visible and audible from the Visitor Buildings.
