RSPB Saltholme

A lovely outdoors space to visit. All staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. Mobility scooters available for just a donation, large lift to restaurant , good disabled loos, accessible shop. It's a lovely safe place for disabled people to enjoy the outside, even if the weather is bad there is plenty to see from the restaurant. The best time to watch birds is often in the winter or spring so the good warm restaurant is ideal

In keeping with most RSPB sites the disable facilities were excellent.. Several electric scooters small and large were available, as were wheelchairs. Access to all the parts of the site that we visited was good, all pathways had good hard surfaces and the hides had good access and room for the scooter. All making it a very enjoyable visit. One slight criticism might be that access to the disabled toilet was rather awkward for the large scooter that I used, and it was not possible to access the lift to the cafe with this machine. This is probably because the building predates the availability of scooters.
