Runnymede-On-Thames Hotel

An ideal room for almost all disabled people who enjoy mixing and playing of team games. Photos 1 and 2 First of all you can relax together in the reception area watching the world go by. Photos Photos 3 and 4 Then early evening, take the short ride to the bar, which is quite a large area spread out over many little sections. Photo 5 The small stage used for organized games with staff, or any smaller shows such as singers. Photos 6 to 9 You will find plenty of seating around the room, BUT SUGGEST Disabled get there nice and early to find a spot where your chairs may be placed. Photos 10 and 11 Toilets can be found by going along the small passage in the far end area, and they are just before the steps ahead. The disabled is neat and tidy, very clean and well maintained, with pull cords and grab bars. It is wide enough for wheelchairs to be able to be spun around, but large scooters may struggle. Photos 12 to 14 We could only find the steps to get us into the theatre, and just about managed to stagger up these so as to check out the theatre for you, but you would be best to follow signs before you enter the bar as to how to find the main entrance to theatre. It was certainly a nice place with lots of spots you could put your wheelchair or scooter. All reviews indicate the shows are very good, with top class well known entertainers, so do read Warners advice of upcoming shows YOU MUST BOOK before hand, as they are popular and seats are booked well in advance. Photo 15 We preferred to sit and relax around the bar area, with comfortable seats and reasonably priced drinks. This is an idea of the wines and mocktails we enjoyed. White. A New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc by Greyrock. Aroma of a soft and fresh elderflower. Its appearance was sharp, clear, and thick looking. The taste was very good, very dry, with a bitter hint, full of elderflower and grapefruits, a little mouth drying, but a light bodied very nice wine. Marks from 10. A good 7.5 points. Red. A Spanish wine, by Bobal, Arrumaco. Aroma indicated licorice, with a good thick dark Burgundy appearance. However, the taste was bland, a poor wine, and slightly mouth drying. Forget it. Marks from 10. A poor 5.5 points. Forget it. Mocktails A typical and favourite of my husband, a Pina Colada. Alcohol free, coconut and cream. Well made by staff, and tasty enough. Seedlip fix Made with orange, ginger, lemongrass, apple juice and an elderflower tonic. This was ok, refreshing and alcohol free. ====================================== May we recommend Warners Runnymede on Thames hotel to you. We have found it to be a very pleasant and well kept hotel, the staff are very willing to help, friendly and they know what they are doing. The cafe is very handy as you enter the hotel, with comfortable seating both indoors and out on the terrace, which overlooks the river Thames, with pleasant walks to be taken as you walk along to the sights of Runnymede, where the Magna Carta was signed. The whole hotel is clean and nice decorated, the restaurants are delightful with excellent menus and well prepared dishes. The Bar area is an ideal place to join any show or game going on. The bedrooms are all very well maintained, clean. Comfortable and offer a good nights sleep.

Our first holiday break with the Warner hotels, and it turned out to be a brilliant couple of days break. ALL WARNER HOTELS allow one night breaks, if you first fancy trying a break to see what the hotels are like. This always means staying on a SUNDAY night and departing on the Monday morning, but you are allowed to arrive at the hotel from around 11.00 am SUNDAY morning and enjoy the facilities before you book in at 3.00pm, but then you can stay after this time until 5.00pm on the Monday, so a full two days can be enjoyed. Runnymede is an ideal way to try these Warner hotels out. You will find that it is very, very popular Adults only hotel with senior citizens, but younger visitors are more than welcomed, they are in general lovely hotels and all offer a relaxing holiday. ======================================== During 2024 Warner Leisure Hotels have 14 country or coastal properties in the UK. You may have known them as Warner holiday camps, but have moved on and are far better nowadays. The camps were founded in 1932 by Captain Harry Warner, then following the end of world 11, they expanded and ran with the help of his three sons. By the mid 1060’s they had 11 camps, which were generally smaller than other well known camps, but many considered Warner a better experience. During 1980 some camps were closed, then after refurbishments Warners was sold to the Grand Metropolitan in 1983, and four years later in 1987 sold to the Rank group. Most of the camps were then transferred to the Haven Holiday brand. Some parks were then sold off altogether. By 1994 Warner Holidays became adult-only holidays, then in 2000 Bourne Holidays ltd bought the Rank groups holiday division, and became known then for the new country house hotels, and renamed as Warner Leisure Hotels, but in 2021 the hotel group were bought by The Blackstone group. In 2024, on 6th March, Paul Pomroy was appointed as CEO, and then a new brand was unveiled which invested £200m by refurbishing many hotels which included buying the Runnymede on Thames hotel from September 2024. We have personally always liked the Runnymede on Thames hotel, and as the newly acquired hotel by Warners, we have given a REVIEW OF RUNNYMEDE on Euan’s guide, and now offer our up to date REVIEW OF “WARNER HOTEL RUNNYMEDE” We would personally recommend Warners to you, after visiting Runnymede during September 2024, and also giving you a REVIEW OF HEYTHROP PARK, COTSWOLDS in October, before this holiday in December 2024 as part of our 62nd anniversary weekend. ====================================== We have given FOUR different reviews for you about our stay at Runnymede, which will give you an overall report of what you will enjoy at this Warner Hotel, so do please read all four reviews which we feel will encourage all our disabled friends to want to stay here. From the carpark area it’s a reasonably level approach with just a slight slope from the lower main carpark, and you enter the hotel on the level. Immediately you are at the reception desk on your left, with a nice pleasant cafe area to the right, which offers a nice selection of drinks and snacks. ALL WARNER HOTELS allow day visits, which is a great way of taking a look around to see what you would think for any future stays. So the cafe, and the bar (photos on review below) will be needed if you wish to take coffee and cake during the day. You are allowed to wander around the facilities to note what is available, and it’s a great way of taking a look at Warner hotels. A lift by reception desk is available if you need to get up to bedrooms, but DO TAKE NOTE OF OUR DISABLED ACCESS information on the below section. We have reviewed two disabled rooms for you to read. Our first stay is reviewed on Euans Guide under search button RUNNYMEDE, and then reading Disabled Travellers review, and the other persons review. Both stayed in room 151. We found this to be more than able to be of use to a disabled person, with plenty of room for wheelchair users. A bit tighter for large scooters though so you would need to check with reception when booking. On This visit we stayed the other side of the hotel, in the disabled room of 2092 and found this ideal for disabled. You will find the lift just beyond the cafe and the restaurant. The lift is very close to the room, REMEMBER THE LIFT IS VERY SMALL, but our photos will show you the room, and we feel all scooters would manage here, but do check with reception before you book. Our photos show you the room, which for us was very comfortable, and we coped quite well and will use this each time we visit Runnymede. The shower and WC was very handy, but it’s not that big, we doubt if a scooter could cope, but for those of us that can manage with the use of a walking stick, then this is a very nice room, as it’s so handy for lifts and restaurants, and the large bar area and theatre. ==================== NOW CHECK OUT OVER 400 REVIEWS BY “ DISABLED TRAVELLER “ on where to find and enjoy a day out in the British Isles. The Market Kitchen restaurant is a very pleasant easy going buffet style restaurant offering a very good menu selection of Easy style meals. However, we strongly advice booking your table and time as soon as you can, even doing this online just 28 days before your stay here, you may find a queue ahead of you, and have to wait until a table becomes available. SO DONT FORGET TO BOOK. Start with the Deli Bar, and a selection of salads, cold meats and fish, fresh baked rolls with dips. Follow with a hearty soup, or a small plate of light greens or a selection of fish treats. Then choose your own main course, or two different courses, you pick whatever. After a rest, go up to the dessert section for a satisfying sweet finish, the choice is very inviting. This is a very satisfying buffet, everything was beautifully laid out, easy to reach, cooked very nicely, with a wide selection on offer. And you can just take your time, relax, and enjoy. The disabled toilets are a bit of a ride away though, but very clean, modern, with pull cord and bars, not all that big, but most chairs will cope, perhaps no room for larger scooters to turn around, but we feel all can cope.
