    About

Founded in 1995 and based at Rutland Sailing Club (RSC), our mission is one of “Sharing the sport of sailing with people with a wide range and degree of disability, through recreation, training and racing – towards the limits of individual aspirations.” This might range from learning to sail, the satisfaction of sailing solo, racing at local, national or international level or simply enjoying the sensation of being out on the water in a beautiful setting such as Rutland Water. Sailing activities take place at Rutland Sailability from April to October.  During the winter months, a range of talks, training courses and social activities are also arranged, providing members with year-round opportunities to maintain regular contact with like-minded friends. Membership is open to people with physical, sensory or intellectual disabilities from aged 7 years upwards.  In addition, if you are able-bodied and would like to support our activities on a regular weekly basis, sailing skills are a bonus but certainly not essential – there are plenty of other tasks.  We look forward to hearing from you. Time / Date Details Thursdays (all year): 10.00-3.00Saturdays (April - October): 9.00 – 12 NOON

    The Worlds Best Sailability Club

The worlds best Sailability club! I cannot thank Rutland Sailability enough for being so welcoming, kind and giving me the opportunity to try out a range of boats that I never thought I would be able to sail. The entire team from Jill the secretary, the instructors and volunteers go above & beyond! The club is extremely accessible with access to hoists, wheelchair ramps, lifts and even golf buggies!

    Wonderful Facility

This club is linked to the RYA national Sailability scheme. Access to the admin and clubhouse is up a quite long ramp. The welcome is great and you are very soon logged in and on the list for a sail. The boats they have available are designed for a huge variety of disabilities and there is a good team of instructors there to help with every level of ability. The changing and shower/lavatory arrangements put every hospital I've been to, to shame. There are hoists, wet rooms, changing benches etc etc. Food is excellent too. Navigator -paraplegic
