    Ryhope Engines Museum

    About

Built upon the former Ryhope Pumping Station, the giant 1868 steam powered beam engines are regularly steamed using power from hand fired Lancashire boilers of 1908. We have a blacksmith on site holding regular exhibitions during steaming events. Please bring your tablet or smartphone with a full charge to enjoy our Info-Point guided tours, historical information, plans, images and videos. A series of web-cams enable full viewing of the most inaccessible areas however a Terry platform lift will afford access to a huge part of the museum.
