Hundreds of carved figures and pieces of old scrap perform an incredible choreography to haunting music and synchronised light, telling the funny and tragic stories of the human spirit as it struggles against the relentless circles of life and death. SHARMANKA (Russian for Barrel-Organ) was founded by sculptor-mechanic Eduard Bersudsky and theatre director Tatyana Jakovskaya in St.Petersburg (Russia) in 1989. Audiences in many countries have been fascinated by its magic, and based in Glasgow since 1996 it has gained a reputation as one of the city’s hidden treasures. Unique art and craft for thought and entertainment for any age.

Like nothing I've ever seen before - spooky, fantastical...

I don't think it's very well advertised that the venue is actually within the 'Trongate 103' arts centre in Glasgow, on the south side of Trongate. Very accessible with a decent sized lift to get up yo the venue on level 1.

Disabled Access at Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre

Our venue is fully accessible. Please advise if your party includes wheelchair users. During Promenade show the audience is required to move around the space following the action. Some seating is available throughout the space. The first 20 minutes of Wheels Of Life show is seated. After that the audience is required to move around the space following the action. Some seating is available throughout the space.

On street parking is available adjacent to the building (some of which are disabled parking bays) Parking is available on three sides of our building: - Trongate, King Street and Parnie Street.
