Overview

A greenfield site is never going to be the best place if you struggle to walk/stand like I do, but Salm Dunk really tries to deliver the best possible experience. It's an incredibly inclusive place full of friendly people. The communication and set up for those less able is amazing, even down to letting those with need to bring in your own seat (pre-arranged). This is a game changer for me as even though I was able to get a seat on any of the platforms at the stages I wanted to visit, it meant that if I couldn't, I still had a back up plan. It's a bit of a trek to and from the train station, but I will use the accessible parking next time which is a lot nearer.

Transport & Parking

Hatfield train station is opposite the entrance to the site, but the walk to the festival itself is not all paved and goes up and down quite a lot. It's rather dark on the way out, combined with uneven flooring was quite scary. Accessible parking can be applied for and appeared to be a lot nearer to the festival site

Access

3

A special queue for access customers, where they were validated and given the correct wristband for their accessible needs (platform wheelchair/platform ambulent/access facilities only (queue jump, lower bar, toilets etc...) Unfortunately there was only one person doing this which led to a long queue for people who might struggle with standing. This is where my chair came in handy!

Toilets

4.5

I used the accessible toilets at the platforms which were fenced off and only available to people using the platforms. Although I have heard these got full at certain times, I did not have any problem with them and found them to be very clean (for portaloos) and always had paper. There were also 2 full disabled toilets on site which I did not use, and accessible loos which were monitored by stewards in the general site area.

Everyone I met at the accessible platforms were very friendly and helpful
