Disabled Access Information Provided by South Tynedale Railway

Disabled Access at South Tynedale Railway

The railway station at Alston is fully wheelchair accessible and includes a disabled toilet at street level. The ticket office / gift shop has a permanent ramp allowing access for wheelchairs and the cafe / tea room has a removable ramp that can be fitted when needed - please ask a member of staff for assistance. We try to run an accessible coach on all of our services which includes a ramp and space for two wheelchairs. We recommend that people call in advance to check that the coach is running and that it hasn't been withdrawn at short notice due to mechanical problems.

Accessible parking at South Tynedale Railway

The railway has its own car park which at the present time has a rough service due to the winter storms although we anticipate that this will be repaired during 2014. There is also additional car parking on the approach road to the station which may be more suitable for disabled visitors.
