Disabled Access In and Around
Average
It is level access into this venue and the doors to enter the venue are wide enough to get through in a wheelchair. You have to manually open the doors to enter the venue. There is plenty of space as you enter the venue and you go along a wide corridor to the event space. To get into the event space you have to go down I think at least 5 steps so if you are a wheelchair user you have to go through the kitchen to go down into the event space. In all honesty I was in such a hurry to get into the event that I didn’t even notice that I went through a kitchen until someone told me. When I left to go home I noticed there was screens up to hide the kitchen which I thought was good because the organisers obviously understood that it isn’t the best to go through a kitchen. I did a presentation on the stage at the event and it was really good that they provided a ramp so I was fully included. Also there were multiple microphones available to use which was good because I can’t hold a handheld microphone. In the event space it was round tables that you sat at so you were able to see everyone sitting at the table and the tables were at a good height for a wheelchair user. The tables were also well spaced out so it was easy to get right around the hall.
Accessible facilities: Step-free entrance, Step-free access to most areas
Parking & Transport
Good
I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
There are plenty of parking spaces right outside this venue that can be reserved for events. These parking spaces a little bit wider than a standard parking space so they are good for wheelchair accessible vehicles. This building is located roughly a 30-minute walk from Dynamic Earth which I know for certain that there is bus stops at to take you around Edinburgh, but I am not local to the area so I don’t know what the public transport is like.
Accessible facilities: Dedicated on-site parking
Accessible Toilets

I didn’t visit the accessible toilet whilst I was at this venue, but I was told there was one. There isn’t a Changing Places in this venue, but the closest on is in the main library in George Square.
Facilities: Accessible toilet
Staff
Excellent
All staff that I interacted with whilst I was at a University of Edinburgh event were very welcoming and helpful at directing me of where I needed to go.
