Accessible for rollator and autism

Excellent
I did the sensory trail which was really good and fun. I learn annd process information better using my senses. The whole ship and museum is rollator accessible (so should also be wheelchair accessible as well). I was surprised how accessible the ship actually was. It wasn’t just the standard access but it also went above and beyond with things like sensory trails, communication board, quiet space, ear defenders, tactile model of ship and so much more. I also liked that they made the effort to make access feel part of the ship. Like the lift on the ship didn’t look out of place or ugly or anything like that. Free blue badge parking and carers tickets.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
It was step free. I would say however if you had a really large wheelchair or large mobility scooter Some bits of the ship are quite narrow so you might struggle a little but should be fine for a standard wheelchair and rollator. I also did the sensory trail. They had ear defenders, quiet room, communication board and tactile model of the ship. There are a few cobbles but they can be easily avoided if that’s an issue for you. My rollator is off road so could manage the cobbled bits.

There was no changing place toilet that I noticed. But could be wrong. They did however had a great accessible toilet

Staff
Excellent
All the staff were incredibly kind and helpful and explained how to access the ship really well. There were also plenty of staff around to help and chat to which was good. The staff checked in on me to make sure I could access everything ok
