St Anne’s Cathedral at the heart of Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter is a treasure trove of art, culture and music. Services take place four times daily, with a sung service most days. The Cathedral was consecrated in 1904 and extended over the years, with the eye-catching Spire of Hope added in 2006. Today, as well as being a sacred space and place of worship, St Anne’s also provides a stunning backdrop for concerts, recitals and carol services. Inside its lofty interior are mosaics by Sir Charles Nicholson, and sculptures by Rosamund Praegar and Maurice Harding. The mosaics of Italian glass are by sisters Gertrude and Margaret Martin. St Anne’s has spectacular stained glass windows and some very fine needlework, including the poignant Titanic Pall. As St Anne’s is the Cathedral for the City of Belfast, the Chapel of the Holy Spirit is free to visitors for quiet prayer at any time.

Disabled Access Information Provided by St Anne's Cathedral

Disabled Access at St Anne's Cathedral

St Anne's Cathedral has gently sloping ramped access leading to the front doors in Donegall Street. Inside, ramps on the left hand side as you look towards the altar lead into the ambulatory. Toilets can be accessed from here and include a disabled toilet. There is a wheelchair accessible lift which serves the parish hall from the main body of the Cathedral. Seats in the Cathedral are moveable, and so we can always accommodate wheelchairs during services. The Cathedral is fitted with an induction loop for anyone with a hearing impairment (switch hearing aid to T position).

There are no steps to access the disabled toilet. The doors are wide enough for wheelchairs. There are a number of grab rails, and the taps are easy turn. There is also an emergency pull cord.

Accessible toilet

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
