This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair, Powerchair

Overview

My experience has been based on two occasions both have been very good experiences with caring staff, very good seating for people who use wheelchairs and they are part of the hynt card system in Wales which enables a carer to be free with the person who requires help. The hynt card is free and covers many venues in Wales so is well worth getting.

Transport & Parking

There is a car park called St David’s very close to the Hall, it has a whole floor dedicated to disabled and mother and child parking. Because this is in Cardiff there is a train station and buses, plenty of taxis so it has a good network of public transport and accessing the venue is not difficult.

Access

5

The main doors do have two steps which are quite high, but on the right side there is a small door which is a disabled friendly entrance with no steps it has a ramp into a corridor that has a door at about 5 meters that accesses into the front hall. There are lifts to each floor. We were shown to the lift by gentleman working there waited until we had alighted the lift. They were really kind people, all helpful and willing to help.

Toilets

A little confusing is the two disabled toilets are within the female toilets, I am sure it’ll be the same for the male toilets. I knew this due to my last visit and the people attending the loo just let me and my carer straight into the loo area so I could access the toilet.

Staff

Very, very helpful, friendly and understanding staff who will bend over backwards to help me, I really found them very polite and caring.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This is my second time at St David’s Hall and I have found it excellent, there is also the hynt welsh card scheme which allows free access from carers is used here, the card is free and gives carers free access to many arts, performances and exhibitions.
