Overview

Really well equipped rooms on ground floor of hotel for disabled guests. We had a weekend break staying in the accessible suite , which as well as easy access and masses of space, had a kitchen with low level hob and sink . In the bedroom there was a ceiling hoist for easy transfers from bed to bathroom. The bathroom was spacious and the hoist could transfer to bath or to adjustable height Clos -o-mat toilet. Plenty of grab rails made life easy for those like me who can self transfer and stand . Wash basin low level and lever taps made things easy too. All beautifully appointed and luxurious so no suggestion of institutional feel. Alternative disabled facilities room has roll in shower and full body drier. Indoor swimming pool accessible by shallow steps and rail, or hoist facility. Public building doors are automatic , which are a helpful feature too.

Transport & Parking

Disabled parking right outside reception and near to rooms. Given 4 stars purely because the 2 spaces provided might prove to be inadequate at busier times in Cornwall. January is not peak season after all and both spaces were in use ( one by us , I hasten to add)

Access

really good both in public areas and in the rooms.Automatic doors to reception and our hotel block. Dining room and bar accessed by lift which worked well.

Toilets

Didn't actually test the disabled facilities in public areas so can't rate but judging by standard in rooms , I should imagine they are very good.

Staff

Well trained and informed and made us feel very welcome.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This is probably the best equipped accessible hotel room I have stayed in and a really first class result from having thought it through carefully and equipped to a high standard.( Only problem for wheelchair users was not having a low enough mirror close to a socket for a hair dryer). Well done to the owners for making it so inclusive - I for one really appreciated it!
