Accessibility is generally consistent across Starbucks branches. They usually have a few accessible parking spaces, plenty of seating and a clear layout with lots of room to move around, along with power sockets for public use. This venue is another great example of that. As it’s my local store, I’m here fairly often and really appreciate how friendly and welcoming the staff are.

    Disabled Access In and Around

there’s a gentle slope down to the car park with a lowered kerb. Just take care as it leads you through the car park. There are also steps with rails on both sides leading down to the car park. They’ve got tactile paving at the top and bottom and take you straight to a crossing that leads to the main entrance. There aren’t any automatic doors here. The front door is heavy and made of metal and glass. There’s a bell on the right side of the frame with a wheelchair symbol, but I didn’t get the chance to try it as someone kindly opened the door for me. Once inside, it’s easy to get your bearings. The order counter is obvious, and even without much signage, it’s simple to find your way around. The collection counter also has a lowered section. There are plenty of seating options, from leather chairs and wooden seats to soft-backed benches. The benches all have power sockets, useful for charging mobility devices, phones and laptops. There’s loads of space to move around, and I didn’t need to ask anyone to move or shift a chair when leaving the café.

The car park is small, but there are two accessible spaces to the left of the front entrance. Both are on a slight slope and offer enough room to get in and out of your car comfortably. There are no electric vehicle charging points at this location, though you’ll find some in the nearby car park that serves Aldi and Home Bargains – additional accessible parking spaces can be found here. There’s also a drive-thru window for anyone who’d rather stay in their car or grab a caffeine boost before heading off on a road trip. If you’re arriving by bus, the closest stop is on High Street, just 160 metres away, where you’ll find the 9, 1A and X68 services. Johnstone Railway Station is just under a mile away, but it’s worth noting that the station sits on a hill. A cycle path runs behind shop.

    Accessible Toilets

There is one accessible toilet at this location, accessed through two manual doors. The first door opens outwards into the coffee shop and isn’t particularly heavy. At the end of this corridor is the second door, which doesn’t require a RADAR key and also opens outwards. The door is secured from the inside by raising the handle. The room is spacious enough for a manual or powerchair user and another person. The toilet seat has grab rails on either side, both are white and contrast well against the dark grey tiled walls. The red cord hangs to the right when seated. There is a right-side transfer space with a pedal bin nearby. The bin is large but doesn’t block the space. There is no colostomy shelf, but there is a vacant platform to the right of the toilet that may be helpful to some. The small sink has rails on either side and a press-down tap.
